About Us

Mission

Our Booster Club is dedicated to empowering and enriching the lives of gymnasts within our community. Through unwavering support, tireless fundraising efforts, and the provision of scholarships, we aim to foster an environment where every athlete can thrive. We are committed to organizing engaging events that not only celebrate the achievements of our gymnasts but also contribute to the continuous growth and development of our gym. Together, we strive to build a strong foundation of support, enabling our athletes to reach their full potential both on and off the mat.

History

Founded in June 2024, Above & Beyond Booster Club emerged from a shared passion for supporting our community and enhancing opportunities for local athletes. Initially established by a dedicated group of individuals who recognized the need for collective action. From its inception, we have strived to foster a spirit of unity and empowerment, advocating for the enrichment of athletic programs within our community.

Through fundraising efforts, volunteerism, and strategic partnerships, we will contribute to the growth and sustainability of various projects and causes. As we look towards the future, our booster club remains steadfast in its mission to inspire and empower. We envision further collaborations, innovative projects, and meaningful contributions that will leave a legacy of support and unity in our community and beyond.

Board of Directors

Nico Velazquez

PRESIDENT

Nico Velazquez is General Manager and Boys Team Head Coach at Above & Beyond Gymnastics Center. Outside of the gym Nico also owns Monument Movement LLC, a custom apparel and promotional company here in Tulsa. He has been a part of USAG Gymnastics for over 25 years both as an athlete and coach. Nico’s goal as a coach is to not only teach the great sport of gymnastics, but to also teach the young minds around him to be the best people they can possibly be.

Veronica Foster

VICE PRESIDENT

Mother to Victoria Foster, who is competing in Optional Level 6 this next meet season, Veronica has been a part of Above & Beyond Gymnastics Center since the conception of the gym. Veronica volunteers her time and energy to the needs of all things Victoria is involved in, which led her to lend her expertise in creating the first booster club for Above & Beyond. Veronica will be the loudest parent yelling in the gym or at a meet – closely related to the sound of a screaming goat.

Chevis Sokolosky

SECRETARY

Chevis Sokolosky has been an integral part of the ABGC community since its inception in 2021. His dedication to the club and its mission was recognized in 2023 when he was honored with the Parent of the Year award. Chevis and his wife, Kory, are proud parents of two talented gymnasts: Harper, a Level 4 competitor, and Eli, a Level 9 competitor. Outside of the gym, Chevis works for Hallmark, where he brings his creativity and passion for excellence to his role. He is excited to contribute to the continued growth and success of ABGC as a member of the Booster Club Board of Directors.

Kandi Matthes

TREASURER

Kandi Matthes’ daughter, Makaylah will be competing in level 9 this year. They have been a part of ABGC since its opening in 2021, and gymnastics has been a part of their lives since Makaylah was a toddler.  Kandi says, “We started competing when she was in 3rd grade.  I say ‘we’ because we all know that this sport takes the support of the entire family.  We love everything about gymnastics and enjoy supporting Makaylah at meets and watching gymnastics at home as well.  I never thought I would be the mom of a high level athlete, but here I am and I love every bit of it, even the tough parts.  I am excited to help start this booster club so that we can further support other gymnasts’ dreams.”
